In Kansai dialect, a short 1-mora word often gets “stretched” into two moras by adding a long vowel.
Examples:
  • 木(き) can sound like きぃ
  • 火(ひ) can sound like ひぃ

LH [low to high]

木 [き] tree
手 [て] hand
目 [め] eye
Standard (1 mora)
Kansai (2 moras)

HL [high to low]

毛 [け] hair / body hair
歯 [は] teeth
Standard (1 mora)
Kansai (2 moras)
